New Local Enterprise Announced – New Enterprise in Glengarriff Based on Unique Interaction of Science, Arts and Sport
The Founder and CEO of BMSA, Finbarr Mc Sweeney, has announced the establishment of an exciting enterprise operating at the interface of Technology, Arts and Sports. It is understood that this is a unique organisation globally.
BMSA has been offering EU policy and Technology advice since 2011 and has now decided to significantly expand its operations by creating a Golf Division and Arts section.
McSweeney (63) is an, internationally renowned, Technologist, was a former Director General at the European Commission in Brussels and has held various positions in Irish and International industry and public service. He is an experienced manager who has founded and developed organisations and was responsible for the successful reorganisation of the 3000 person Joint Research Centre of the EU which is based in Brussels but with Research Divisions in Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
He is a native of Cork City, educated at Sullivan’s Quay, UCC, TCD and was appointed an Adjunct Professor at the College of Business and Law in UCC in 2010. He continues to lecture on the Masters programme in International Policy and Diplomacy, which he co-designed.
He has won numerous awards including the Grand Gold Medal of Comenius University, a prestigious award won by only a handful including John Paul II and the international financier Georges Soros.
He moved to Glengarriff in 2007 where he had family roots. He was Captain of Glengarriff Golf Club in 2012 and he designed and led the first group purchase of the Mountain View Holiday Homes in Glengarriff in 2011.
“West Cork has largely underused resources in terms of creative people, awe inspiring scenery, strong Arts and Culture and outstanding Golf. I have decided to combine my network of International contacts in the Technology and Business areas and encourage them and their families to come to Ireland to experience the uniqueness of West Cork. As an inventor I have designed and protected a number of golf programmes which will be a key part of the Golf Division. These programmes will also be released internationally. In a nutshell, using state of the art technology we provide a guarantee than anyone based on a two week residential course can become a competent golfer with a handicap allowing them to play on any golf course. We also provide combined language and golf tuition in another unique protected programme. The visiting golfers will be introduced to investment opportunities based on the best of Irish Technology, will stay at the highest standard accommodation and be introduced to the best of Irish Music and culture.”
This unique concept has been recognised by the World Federation of Golf Teachers, who have become a partner with BMSA in the development of the various programmes. The tuition will take place at the Old Head Golf Links, Bantry Bay Golf Club and in Glengarriff Golf Club where BMSA is also planning to establish a local Golf Academy with indoor facilities, including interactive computer driven Golf Simulators, allowing tuition to continue throughout the winter. BMSA is also working in partnership with, Cork company, SkyTec in the use of Octocoptors (unmanned helicopters with eight rotors) to take unique aerial shots of golfers, providing them with unique footage of their visit to Ireland.
BMSA will work together with golf tour operators, musicians and local and national development agencies in order to optimise the potential of West Cork.
BMSA is currently seeking young golfers with handicaps less than 16 and with TEFL qualifications who will provide training as youth leaders in this unique company.
The BMSA website has been designed with their, award winning, creative partner organisation Practice and Theory who own, music company, Choice Cuts. BMSA also has strong connections to Other Voices (South Wind Blows) having acted as their fundraiser and digital media advisor.
The company will be formally launched at a glittering celebration of Irish Technology, Arts and Sport at the Glengarriff Lodge, a partner of BMSA, on Sept 28th.
See the website at www.bmsa.eu for further details.
